Bedtime Routines

Keely remembers what it is like to be scared of the dark, and how her parents helped her with this – and she is happy to share ideas. She also knows what it’s like not to be able to switch the mind off easily, ready to settle down to sleep – and there are various sensory relaxation techniques she uses, which can be explored in our calming Space Room.

We have met some children who are scared of the dark, to the extent that they can find it very difficult to cope with staying in their room on their own after lights-out. We are able to explore ideas with such children and their parents/carers, to help make their room feel more cosy so that they can start to feel more comfortable with being in there on their own at night, and settle down to sleep more easily.
